Water Polo NZ alumni shine at World Aquatics Masters Championships

27 Aug

Prominent last week at the World Aquatics Masters Water Polo Championships in Singapore have been several well known NZ water polo identities.

With West Houston W40+, Emma Jones (former international professional and NZ rep) and Sandra (‘Magic’) Taylor (former Maranui and NZ rep) won gold medals.

With London Polytechnic M55+, Ben Simperingham (former NZ rep and manager) won a silver medal.

With the Perth Cockatoos M75+, Terry Mulligan (former Wharenui and Canterbury junior rep) and Ian Gunthorp (NZ life member 2021 and former NZ rep and manager) won gold medals.

And as a lead referee Liz Burman (NZ life member 2006 and former NZ rep) was outstanding.

Having enjoyed the highly successful tournament, all of the above encourage others to form teams or join teams for Budapest 2027.

A big thank you to Ian Gunthorp on passing on these awesome photos and write up!
