20 teams to contest second round of Suzuki Division 2 Water Polo National League

Get ready for an exciting weekend of water polo as the second round of the 2025 Suzuki Division 2 Water Polo National League kicks off on Friday, 16 May! With 20 teams from across the country battling it out over three action-packed days, this round promises high stakes and fierce competition.

A glimpse into the action

Round two brings together 20 teams representing 13 clubs, with 11 men's teams and 9 women's teams. Each match will contribute vital points toward the overall standings leading into round three – the final chance to claim the Division 2 title. 

Clubs represented are: Atlantis City, Canterbury, Harbour City, Hawke's Bay, Marist, Mountfort, North Harbour, Otago, Sea Wolf, Tauranga, Waikato, and Waitakere. There will also be a New Zealand U18 men's team amongst the action.

Waikato Men have already made waves by winning Round 1, putting them in a strong position heading into this weekend. All eyes will be on whether they can maintain their momentum, or if another team will rise to challenge their lead. 

Standings after first round

Men's Division 2:

  1. Waikato Mangu - 8 points
  2. Waitakere - 7 points
  3. Harbour City Hawks - 6 points
  4. Marist Makutu - 5 points

Women's Division 2:

  1. Hutt - 8 points
  2. Harbour City Hawks - 7 points
  3. Waikato - 6 points
  4. Hawke's Bay - 5 points

Venues

The action will unfold across Sacred Heart College, St Cuthberts, National Aquatic Centre, and AUT Millennium. 

Games begin on Friday, 16 May, and run through the weekend with play offs taking place on Sunday.
