WPNZ Confirms Board Update

Water Polo New Zealand has confirmed that Richard Shine has resigned from his roles as Chair and Director of Water Polo New Zealand Incorporated, effective from 8.00pm, 24 August 2026.

The Board and wider water polo community acknowledge Richard’s service, leadership and commitment to the sport during his time with Water Polo New Zealand.

Richard remains committed to the wellbeing and future of water polo in New Zealand.

Reflecting on his time with the organisation, Richard said it was

"a privilege to serve the sport and to work alongside the many people who contribute their time and energy, often voluntarily, for the benefit of players, referees, coaches, clubs and supporters."

In the interim, Rachel Cade has assumed the role of Chair, providing continuity for the organisation and the Board.

Water Polo New Zealand thanks Richard for his contribution and service to the sport and wishes him well for the future.
